HEAT YOUR WATER FOR FREE WITH SOLAR ENERGY

Thermosiphon

Thermosyphon Solar Water Heater, DIY

In an effort to always save energy we look at products out there with a known record to work before we buy. Evacuated tubes do work and work well, they are an amazing invention, it’s one of the only products out there that uses up to 80% of the Suns energy. Solar PV efficiency is only about 30% efficient, that means it only uses 30% of the suns energy. Because of the evacuated tube invention, they are now working with concentrated solar that heats the water to a steam stage and then powering a generator to create electricity, incredible stuff.

Thermosyphon solar water heater or a split system of an evacuated solar water heating system, both can save you up to 80% on your water heating utility bill. A split system has 3 components, the tubes that go on the roof, the controller and the storage tank, both go in the utility room and it needs power to control it. Installing a split system will cost more but with the incentives, it can be affordable to obtain.

The Thermosyphon is an all in one water heater and is very easy to assemble and install, it can be a DIY or Pro installation project. This Thermosiphon is a stainless steel unit so it won’t rust and they are specially designed for cold climates due to it’s evacuated solar collector tubes. Evacuated tubes can produce around 750 btu per tube and this unit has 20 tubes totaling up to 15,000 btu. It can assist your existing water heater or be a stand alone unit. Customers have installed Thermosyphon units on they’re roof but I don’t suggest it to customers in the north due to units are heavy and with the snow load it can be a problem, best place is on the ground next to the home or business. I started using evacuated tubes about 10 years ago and I’m still amazed of the product.
